This is a vegetable dish that will accompany any oriental recipe.

Or, it can be served with a bowl of rice noodles all on its own, in which case it will serve two.

Method

First toast the sesame seeds.

Place a small saucepan over a medium heat to warm through, then add the sesame seeds.  Shake and keep them on the move until they have turned golden and begin to splutter - about a minute.  Then remove the pan from the heat and allow it to cool.  After that, add the rest of the sauce ingredients, return the pan to the heat and simmer for 5 minutes. All this can be done well in advance, then, when you are ready to cook the beans, steam them over simmering water for about 6 minutes or until tender, then toss them quickly in the sauce just before serving.

225g dwarf green beans (or fine green beans, topped, but tails left on)
For the sauce:
1 heaped teaspoon sesame seeds
2 tablespoons Shaosing (Chinese brown rice wine)
